Hello world! Mind if I reminisce?

Today is the first day of achieving my website dreams! I can't wait to make more posts.... but I can't get ahead of myself heehee!

Have a cuppa and join me with tonight's ramblings while I procrastinate from sleeping in order to work on this website! Weee!

Does anyone else miss the old internet where it seemed so magical and rife with amusement or is it just me? :/ It seems like lots of people feel the same way on Reddit... but not much seems to be done about it.

I remember it like it was yesterday.... the excitement to boot up my pc and wait forever for the internet to connect.... but it was so well worth it! There were so many funny websites (before memes were even a thing) and jumping from one link to another to discover more interesting websites was invigorating. However, finding websites was tough for a kid like me who didn't know that Google was a thing.

I still have my copy of a "Cool Websites" book for kids that listed a bunch of rad websites to visit. I tried every single one and spent hours exploring what they all had to offer. One such website was for "PC Gamer" magazine and I was able to convince my Dad to pay for a subscription. Every month I received a magazine with a demo disc of games. Wow was that exciting for 9 year old me! Some demo PC games were tresasures such as Escape From Monkey Island, Duke Nukem 3D, and others I can't remember.

StumbleUpon was such an awesome website that I used in college to surf the net like the olden days.... back in 2008 I found so many interesting websites. It was a great way to spend nights after a long day of classes and homework. Such special times. I'll have to write more detailed posts about these memories sometime. I'm not the only one with such special memories.

Anyway, now it seems like the days of surfing the net are over. Personal websites are almost a thing of the past unless you really go looking for a niche interest and, even then, results are lackluster. Hopefully that will change sometime in the near future. It seems as though we as a society are further apart than ever. Let's bring back the magic of the internet and life. Let's consume content in a more varied and purposeful way.

Reader, please comment below to share your treasured nostalgic internet days of surfing the web.
